After hours of preparation and nervousness and a little bit of stress, I finally completed the community service project. The environment was quite different from the usual environment I play in. Until yesterday, all of my playing has been for my classmates or people I know personally, in a familiar place such as my house or at school. I played for a completely different audience in a completely different venue, and I'm glad I did.
My dad, a professional trumpet player, told me there was a lot to be proud of. He explained to me that this environment, was a very different environment that I just had to experience. He told me that as I was playing there was a woman whistling to all of the pieces. Afterwards, a lot of them told me that they very much enjoyed it. But the piano was foreign for me, I've never played on it before. At times I felt like I was fighting with it, other times my mind drifted as I listened to it sing. I entered the place nervous, and left proud.
